Ojeda Charges Through Field to Close Out Perth Super440
Jayden Ojeda has finished the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super440 with a strong recovery drive, charging from 20th on the grid to finish 8th in the final race of the weekend at MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway.
The PremiAir Racing driver showed impressive speed from the outset, topping the opening practice session on Friday before ending the day eighth in the second practice session.
Despite showing strong pace from the outset, qualifying proved challenging on Saturday, leaving Ojeda to fight from the back of the field. Ongoing issues under braking restricted the PremiAir Racing driver's progress, resulting in a 20th-place finish in Race 23 before starting out of 16th for Race 24, where a slow start and pit stop limited him to an 18th place finish.
Sunday provided the turnaround the team had been chasing. After qualifying 20th, Ojeda produced one of the drives of the weekend, gaining 12 positions to finish 8th, with strong race pace and excellent pit lane execution helping maximise the result.
"Really nice way to end a difficult weekend.” said Ojeda.
“Massive thank you to the team for their work this weekend, they killed it in the lane today."
While qualifying ultimately dictated the weekend's results, Ojeda and PremiAir Racing demonstrated strong race pace and resilience to finish the round on a high, continuing to collect valuable championship points ahead of the final round of the Supercars Championship sprint series at Queensland Raceway.
